Hilchos Chanukah - Laws of Chanukah
A child who has reached the age of learning Mitzvos needs to light Chanukah candles. It is enough for them to light one candle per night.

All oils and wicks are suitable for Chanukah candles even if they don't burn well. However, the best way to perform this Mitzvah is with olive oil because the miracle in the Temple occured with olive oil.
