While listening to Parshas Zachor, one should have in mind to fulfill the Mitzvah of remembering to eradicate Amalek. The reader should have in mind to act as the agent for fulfilling the congregation's Mitzvah through his reading.

One must understand the explanation of the words for Parshas Zachor. Otherwise, he cannot fulfill the Mitzvah properly. The root of this Mitzvah is to remember what Amalek did and to bear hatred against them at all times.
